In 1982, seven Chicago-area residents were murdered after taking cyanide-laced Tylenol capsules

On the morning of September 29, 1982, a 12-year-old girl from Chicago would wake up with a sore throat and a runny nose. Mary Kellerman would go to her parents with her symptoms, receiving one extra-strength Tylenol capsule in hopes that her illness would go away.

By 7 AM, Mary would be dead.

They would soon discover that the Tylenol capsule was laced with highly poisonous potassium cyanide. Fear would soon grip the nation, changing the way we purchase and consumer medication.
